Participants use the Recap. mobile app available on iOS and Android to join your project and receive research tasks to complete. We work with you to set up your project in the back-end using a range of task types including single or multiple video and photo responses, and Likert scale questions.
The client dashboard provides an overview of your project including the participants, the status of their tasks, and an overview of their submissions, allowing you to replay their videos, view photo submissions, and conduct your own analysis in a user-friendly interface.
As videos are uploaded by participants in your project, our AI engine transcribes the audio into Chinese text. A simple translation button allows you to automatically translate Chinese texts into English, to understand and analyze the results without understanding Chinese.
All participants use the Recap.Chat mobile app to sign up, agree to the privacy policy, and conduct and upload the tasks. Sign-up requires a Chinese mobile number, which is connected to the user's official Chinese ID as a means for verification and authentication. Our app complies with PIPL and CSSL laws.

The cost of running a diary study project using Recap in China is dependent on four main factors.
As an approximate example of project ranges, a project with 5 participants with basic recruitment criteria (general/common consumers) and 8 standard tasks that run over 1 week could be around $2500 USD in total. A project with 15 participants, complex recruitment criteria (hard-to-reach niche consumers) with tasks running over 2 weeks, and 20 in-depth tasks could be around $15,000 USD in total.
We quote each project individually, based on your unique project requirements. Contact us today to share your project details and get a quote tailored to your actual needs.

Recap is primarily focused on video recordings as the task type and format for participants to respond to research questions. We believe this provides the richest context when voice, expressions, body language, and environment can come together to strengthen insights. Multiple videos can be uploaded within one task.
Additional task types include photo submissions, using both the camera function to capture moments, and uploading to allow participants to screenshot apps they might use that are relevant to the research questions. Multiple images can be uploaded within one task.
To allow for single-ease questions and rating scales to help build a quantitative data perspective, we also include Likert scale questions as a question type within the diary study app.
